During the summer, you’ll want to drink or eat refreshing snacks that are delicious, easy to make, and not too unhealthy.
Here are two quick DIY snacks that you can serve at pool parties or simply snack on them when you’re craving a small treat.
1. All-Natural, Healthy Fruit Popsicles
What you’ll need:
- assortment of fruits
- popsicle molds
- water/juice/iced tea
- First, decide what fruits you’ll want in your popsicles, like watermelons, peaches, raspberries, strawberries, kiwis, you name it.
- Then, cut those fruits into small pieces (quarter-nickel size) depending on the size of your molds. Remember to peel off the skin if necessary and cut off the stems.
- Next, fill up your molds with the fruits you cut. Make it colorful and varied with your fruit choices.
- Finally, fill your molds to the top (don’t overflow) with either water, a fruit juice, or iced tea. This will hold the whole popsicle together.
- Stick your popsicle sticks into the molds and make sure it’s secure. Then put it into the freezer for a couple of hours.
- Once your popsicles are completely frozen, pull them out of its mold carefully without breaking them.
2. Colorful Layered Drinks
What you’ll need:
- clear cups/glasses
- different colored beverages
- ice
- First, get a clear glass and fill it 1/3 of the way with ice
- Pour in your first colored drink so it matches the amount of ice in the cup. The trick to the layered look is that the drink with the most sugar (more dense) has to be on the bottom, while the drinks with less sugar has to be poured at the end. To find out how much sugar a drink has, look at the labeling on the back of the drink.
- Once you poured your first drink in, fill the rest of the glass with ice to the top.
- Then pour in your second drink halfway to the top from the first layer, so there’s room for a third drink.
- Finally, pour in your third drink to the top of the glass. Your drink should be in pretty clear layers, although some drinks may mix a bit.
Enjoy your refreshing, cooling summer treats!
