APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 14, 2023

Now’s your chance to be a part of one of the best journalism programs in the nation, make a difference on campus, and take a class that will help you stand out on college applications.

Whether its producing our nationally award-winning newscast, using social media to tell stories, or participating in our International Documentary Trip, this class is for you.

HOW TO APPLY

Students who will be FRESHMEN, SOPHOMORES or JUNIORS next year are eligible to apply.  Students who wish to enroll must complete an application process that includes an online application and one teacher recommendation–no prior experience with journalism or video is required.

Incoming freshmen must have a minimum of an B in English.

WHAT CLASS DO I REGISTER FOR?

When you fill out your registration form, sign up for “Broadcast Journalism 1”

If you’ve already signed up for classes with your counselor, there’s still time to join our staff. Just complete the application and Mr. Hernandez will notify your counselor to make the changes.

WHY TAKE THIS CLASS?

When you become a part of the nationally award-winning The Mustang Morning News, you can expect to:

  • learn all aspects of digital media production from social media reporting, news writing, videography, editing and graphic design
  • travel to national conventions in cities like Washington D.C., Boston, Philadelphia and more
  • participate in our International Documentary trips
  • use cutting edge equipment in the 2600 square ft Media Arts Lab
  • make new friends and meet exciting, motivated people
  • produce stories that the entire school will watch
  • join a network of successful alumni who are currently working in the film and journalism industries

All classes satisfy the Visual Art requirement for UC/CSU college applications.
