What is Consent?

In November, a sexual assault case in Ireland went viral after the defense lawyer presented the victim’s underwear in court and stated “you have to look at what she was wearing.” The man was acquitted, and people around the world protested the verdict as sexist and demeaning.

The debate on what qualifies as consent has existed long before the #metoo era, but social media allows cases like the one in Ireland to become international issues. Julia DiGregorio and Oliver Cubillos talked to educators and students to sharpen the blurred lines around the definition of consent.
