The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce has held Fiesta Hermosa since 1972. It is said to be the “largest arts and crafts fair in Southern California” featuring over 300 artists and crafters, including painters, photographers, ceramicists, jewelers, sculptors, and handcrafters. The festival took place last the weekend of May 23rd and is held annually every Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend. People migrate to Hermosa Beach every year to see all the features the festival has to offer: the music, the food court, the Charity Beer & Wine Garden, the Kiddie Carnival, and much more.
Memorial Weekend 2015 was booming with swarms of people on Pier Ave. The cloudless skies and warm weather were perfect for the festival and drew several people to Hermosa’s beaches.
The vendors brought many unique products to the festival such as jewelry, homemade lotions and soaps, organic fruits and vegetables, sculptures, and much more. The festival’s walkways are filled with color and originality, decorated with cultures and objects from everywhere around the world.
Those who needed a break from shopping and looking around the walkways would take a short break under the tent in the food court. The food court offers 18 different kinds of ethnic food choices, featuring the usual festival cotton candy, caramel apples, fresh squeezed lemonade, and funnel cakes, in addition to handmade guacamole, savory crepes, Greek food, Mexican food, Mediterranean food, and so much more.
The Kiddie Carnival is a fun place for kids and adults of all ages. Friends and family members could be seen racing each other down the 30 foot slide, and shouts of delight could be heard from kids taking a spin on the mechanical rides. Don’t forget about the carnival Petting Zoo! Kids can also get their faces painted while teens and adults get henna tattoos.
Fiesta Hermosa is an event you wouldn’t want to miss! You can catch this event every Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend in downtown Hermosa Beach.
