On Wednesday, May 27th, a petroleum based substance washed up on the shores of Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach. The state shut down the beaches for two days while the substance was cleaned up. The beaches have been reopened, but the substance is still being tested for chemicals to determine the source.
