Starting in 2012, the Manhattan Beach Unified School District decided on a 1:1 iPad program. Each student was to receive their own iPad and use this new device as a main hub for learning. The program was put into place at the Manhattan Beach Middle School and was considered to be a test to see if the program would thrive. From there they decided to place iPads in Elementary Schools, since the iPad seemed to be an efficient tool. But the iPad program was stopped at Mira Costa because they believe that students should have the freedom to use what ever device they are comfortable with.
