With national statistics proving that high school students are at times more stressed than adults, many high schools across the nation are taking action in order to fix this reality.
The Balanced and Resilient Student committee at Mira Costa has been meeting to discuss the root causes of stress on campus. Teachers, administrators, parents, and students have met bi-weekly to propose new ideas for the next school year that can contribute to lessening stress and pressure in students.
Some proposed policies that are in conversation currently are caps on APs, a new testing schedule for the different departments, and having finals end before winter break. All of these policies have been suggested with the intention to reduce everyday stress that can affect the mental and physical health of students.
