This year, Costa changed the schedule causing uneven semesters, in order to have finals take place before winter break. Semester one is 77 days and semester two is 103 days. Other major changes include a 3 day long Thanksgiving break and no Ski Week.
This plan was made to create a better fit schedule to help with student stress over winter break and the option to turn in transcripts to colleges in a more timely manner. Though students can enjoy their break without school work, the fact that first semester is 26 days shorter than second might create more stress for students during the month of December.
This schedule may be ideal for seniors, but it is also affecting all of the other 11 grades too. Now elementary and middle schoolers have to adapt to semesters instead of trimesters.
