Schools across Southern California have been competing for over 20 years in the South Bay Scholastic Surfing Association. This is a very popular area for the sport though. Out of over 25,000 High Schools in the United States, only 57 have a surf team. More than half of these schools are located in California, and that is why the competition for High School surfers is so intense in the South Bay. Despite this, Mira Costa continues to be successful in league and in state-wide competitions. Max Ackerman and Sam Schwartz hop in the water to see why they shred.
