We take a look at how the passage of Prop 30 will affect funding for education, particularly within the Manhattan Beach Unified School District.
Prop 30 involves a temporary increase in income tax, as well a sales tax increase of a quarter of a cent. The money generated from this increase will go towards California Public education and Public Services across the state. Under the Proposition, the Manhattan Beach School District is supposed to receive an additional 7 million dollars for education.
If Prop 30 had not passed, MBUSD would have faced a 3.1 million dollar budget cut.
