It’s the second weekend of the month guys, you know what that means– next weekend, Sunday, May 19th, from 12-3pm will be the monthly Free to Be Me open drum circle jam session at the Hermosa Beach pier!
This drum circle extravaganza takes place on the third Sunday of every month and is catered towards the young, the old, the mentally challenged, the experienced, the inexperienced, and anyone else who would like to take part. Participants are allowed to bring their own percussion, but it is also provided to anyone who wishes to participate, in order to accommodate for the spur of the moment guests. Everyone is working towards the same basic goal, to collaborate in song, and create improvised music.
Female drummer/percussionist, Sabina Sandoval, started this tradition and asks that any questions, offers, or volunteers email her at [email protected]. Sabina also holds an After School Enrichment Program called “Kool Kid Drummers”, which can be read about on her website, and also offers her drum group services as entertainment for schools, parties, work places, and other special events. The drum circle reaches its beat far outside of the Hermosa Beach pier.
The Hermosa Beach drum circle has been a tradition for over 4 years, and no one plans for it to stop soon. So join them next Sunday and jump into their motto, “Let’s rock the world with the beat of our drums!”
