This year, Mira Costa administered slightly over 1650 AP Exams to about 850 students, but during the AP Environmental Exam, 4 students left during the snack break. According to College Board rules, incident reports must be filed for every student that leaves mid-test because they have seen the exam.
This raises the question of why students pay to take the exam if they do not plan on staying for the whole test or trying. Though students are under the impression that the exams are mandatory with taking the class, this rumor is false. Though it is a strong suggestion to take the exam, it is illegal for any public institution to force a student to pay for anything.
Even if your college doesn’t accept the AP class you are taking for that specific credit, you still can receive elective credits for taking the exam.
