Seniors, as we all know, there is nothing we want more this summer than rest, but with the following suggestions you can still relax over summer by staying active in activities you enjoy! Here are a couple ways to have a memorable and great last high school summer:
1) Firstly, you know how you wrote, “We will hang out this summer” in everyone’s yearbook? Stick to your promise. Think of how many people you have told that to in the past four years, and how many of them you actually did spend time with. If you are anything like me, it’s probably not a great percentage. During summer it is easy to become too lackadaisical and flake on your promises to hang out with newly met friends, and instead revert to spending all of your time with the same old crew. Not that anything is wrong with this crew, they’ve always been there for you, just consider how you can live up your last summer by developing new friendships and connections before heading off, you won’t regret it.
2) Get a job. Ya’ hippy. Not to emulate the hackneyed fatherly phrase, but in all seriousness having a summer job before college can help to pay off the numerous university expenses as well as provide a net of support for daily life in college, because as I’m sure older siblings and past graduates can relay, college gets expensive. In college, you will be paying for books and school supplies, on top of dinners and frivolous spending with friends, and having some extra cash saved up can easily and greatly improve your social experience.
3) Start Planning a Healthy Diet and Exercise Routine. Everyone has heard of the freshman 15. I don’t mean to be vain, but most of us will be living on our own and won’t have our parents there to cook healthy meals for us, and unless you are involved in sports, changes are you could forget to be active will all your work. Start a schedule now and stick to it, that way when you get into college, everything will be clear sails.
College is going to be a new great experience guys, so let’s finish off the great experience of high school by doing this summer right!
