While the political climate across the nation is more divided than ever, some Mira Costa students want to change that. Junior Max Moseley started the debate club in order to create a nonpartisan space where students can communicate ideas on current national and global crises. Those who join the club are free to speak freely on topics but should be open to new ideas and constructive criticism. Participating in a debate has been found to have many positive impacts on one’s academic performance and critical thinking skills, as well as boosting self-esteem. Debate Club meets every Monday and Friday in Mr. Piper’s Room.
