The Manhattan Beach Unified School District has around 150 substitute teachers ready to fill in for teacher absences. These substitute teachers are called on a day-to-day basis to take over when a teacher can not make it. Not anyone can become a substitute, however, as they must have certain credentials and meet specific qualifications.
The state requires teachers to have a valid teaching or temporary substitute teaching credential. In addition, job postings listed by MBUSD require:
- Copy of Transcript (College Transcripts)
- Credential Copy (Valid California Teaching Credential or Emergency 30-Day Substitute Permit)
- Letter of Introduction
- Letter(s) of Recommendation (3 Recent Copies – within the past 2 years)
- Resume (Recent)
- Test Results/Materials (CBEST, CSET, or other exam to satisfy the Basic Skills Requirement
Additional requirements are needed in order for a long-term substitute teacher. For job listings and more information, you can visit the MBUSD website.
