Broadcast Journalism– it’s a pretty long name for a class. What does it even mean?
As a multi-media news organization, it’s our job on the Mustang Morning News staff to be journalists yet craftsmen at the same time.
From the time that the school year begins to when it ends, our staff members are working hard to produce the content that airs on our live show. “Photographers” are those on our staff who handle the technical side of broadcast journalism– shooting footage on one of our HD cameras, editing on our Final Cut Pro X software, and mixing audio samples. Every three weeks, our Advanced Broadcast Journalism students receive new story assignments as homework, and nearly every piece they produce is shown to the entire school every Wednesday and Friday.
Our media lab consists of over 16 Apple Macintosh Computers, nearly one dozen High-Definition cameras, and 4 sound-proof edit bays, in addition to the brand-new Black Magic ATEM Software used to run our live shows.
