What do people fear the most? Probably the unexpected. They fear what they can’t control. They fear it because they don’t know what is going to happen in the future for them. For incoming seniors, the year ahead of them is not going to be all fun and games. For them getting into college is their biggest concern. They need to know where they want to go and what they want to do before starting the whole process, but most seniors don’t know what they want to pursue in life as a senior. They fear that they don’t know what they are going to do in life, and if that career will even take them somewhere. How are teenagers even supposed to make their life decisions, when they can’t even decide what they want to eat for breakfast?!
But let’s say that they know what they want to do in life, then applying to college is their next biggest step. And here is where it really kicks on. “Where do I apply to?”, “Do I apply to 5 schools or 10 schools?”, “what if I get rejected?”, “Ahhhhh what do I do?” – the fear of being rejected, or not knowing how many schools to apply to, or when to turn everything in. When seniors stress out and overload themselves with more schools to better their chances, it only increases their stress level. Instead of being relieved at the thought that they have a better chance of getting into college, they are just more stressed out because they have obviously more to do for those schools.
But the day that when that first acceptance letter arrives, all the stress and all the worry of not getting into college suddenly is replaced with extreme joy and happiness! Seniors, don’t stress too much about college, you will all go one day. Don’t overload yourself with work, but don’t wait until the last minute to finish your applications! Good luck and have a fabulous senior year!
