TED is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading ideas through talks or discussions. The talks vary genre from science to business to global issues. Every talk selects a theme that includes interesting speakers and interesting audiences, which is what makes TED so popular. After years of global talks, TED developed a local version called TEDx. The difference is that TEDx focuses on the local community that concentrates on the local voices. Officially, the ‘x’ in TEDx stands for independently organized TED event, or TED multiplied. Since it’s creation in 2009, TEDx has had 16,500 talks reaching over 1200 cities in 133 countries. Check out the local TEDx talks at Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach.
