This past December, Chris Jewett, the Boys Varsity Head Lacrosse coach was fired, allegedly based on a group of anonymous parent complaints filed by attorney Janice Hugener claiming that he gave preferential treatment to players, created a “pay-to-play” scheme, and verbally abused players. The district investigated these claims, and he is allegedly innocent of all the claims, except for occasional profanity; he was still let go. After Jewett was fired, he began working to get his job back. He made a petition for his reinstatement and was supported by nearly 70 parents, and he has also spoken at various school board meetings with the support of infuriated parents who have demanded his reinstatement. Despite this, Super Intendant Dr. Mike Matthews says that the district has not made any action in rehiring Jewett.
