Sublime’s Santeria blasting through the speakers, wind in my hear, nothing but road and not a single care in the world.
Green patched hills, sweeping ocean views, and a seemingly endless coastline.
Palos Verdes, not Manhattan Beach- our sister small town hugging the coast, but distinct enough with its landscape and far enough to be a getaway.
As a PV native turned MB local, I can tell you that there’s no place like home. And home isn’t home without the storied ribbon of road known as the Pacific Coast Highway (which becomes Palos Verdes Boulevard), or PCH to those of us so fortunate to call SoCal home.
For as long as I can remember, the cliffs along PV Blvd. have been my happy place, but for as long as I’ve been able to drive, the road itself has become my safe haven, my getaway place to relax and de-stress. There’s something about driving alone alongside incredible views that makes you forget about your worries.
Just get on PCH, wherever you are, and drive west towards Palos Verdes. When you reach the intersection where the road diverges into two, take the road less travelled on the right (Palos Verdes Blvd.) Take it slow, take the views in, enjoy yourself and enjoy peace. Listen to some good music. Find yourself at Abalone Cove at sunset or Wayfarers Chapel midday. There’s no going wrong when it comes to taking a drive.
