Running late? It’s street sweeping day? Someone took your normal spot? Here are a few tips to help you navigate through those tough mornings and ensure you get to class in time.

1. Prospect & Tennyson

Attention all expert parallel parkers: Prospect & Tennyson is the place for you. If  you’re coming from Hermosa turn left after 7/11 and the Prospect & Tennyson sign will mark the spot! Happy hunting!

2. Don’t forget to curb your wheels!

Take it from someone who learned the hard way… CURB YOUR WHEELS!! If you don’t curb your wheels on a grade of at least 3% you can receive a ticket of up to $53. So remember the rule: up up and away (from the curb), and down and out.

3. Keats & Chabela

You will definitely hit your daily 10,000 step goal if you park here! It’s a little off the beaten path, but a great location if you’re late. Head toward the beach on Keats, and then turn right on Chabela. WARNING: Read the signs… Mondays & Tuesdays are street sweeping days!

4. MBUSD District Lot

This secret lot off of Peck leaves around 30 spots for students. It’s a hike back up the hill to class, but totally worth it!

5. Gates & Meadows

We’ll admit, these spots are a last resort. But if all else fails, scope this street for open spaces. Senior, Kay Schickler explains, “Junior year I didn’t have a parking pass, and parking on meadows filled up fast. I ended up parking on Gates everyday. There was always room, and I didn’t have to leave for school super early to find parking. If you don’t mind the one & a half block walk, it’s a reliable spot.”
