To runners in the South Bay there may seem to be no interesting or scenic runs to conquer. However, lucky for us, directly to our South lies Palos Verdes. On this Peninsula lies hundreds of miles of trails and one can always find a group to run to run with. After trying to decide which of my runs I have enjoyed the most I decided to cover a course, named Marineland, that I have ran dozens of times. Have fun exploring.
Marineland run Directions:
Start at Malaga Cove (36 Malaga Cove Plz, Palos Verdes Estates)
Run South on Palos Verdes Drive West (~1.75 miles)
Keep right and merge onto Paseo Del Mar (~1.25 miles)
Turn right onto Palos Verdes Drive (~2.5 miles)
Run on Palos Verdes Drive until you reach Starbucks
For runners attempting 10 turn around at Starbucks and run Palos Verdes Drive all the way back to Malaga Cove (~4.5 miles)
For runners desiring an extra challenge they can keep running on Palos Verdes Drive until they reach the Links Golf Course (1 mile from Starbucks)
Then run back on Palos Verdes Drive to Malaga Cove (~5.5 miles)
Run Facts:
- The Starbucks has a water station right inside the front door for any runner
- The last mile of the 12 mile run and the stretch of Paseo del Mar are the most scenic of the run with great ocean views
- There is a small public restroom and drinking fountain at the Links golf course
- The course has three larger uphills and a total elevation gain of 485 feet to the halfway point
