It’s safe to say that dogs and cats are considered family. But where exactly are all these pets coming from? Pet Adoptions? Rescue Centers? The fact of the matter is, that throughout the South Bay there are many places that have pets that deserve and need a place to call home. Where are they?
- Lovejoy Foundation
The Lovejoy Foundation is a non-profit that helps get dogs off the streets and into new homes. Since its start up in 2013 they have rescued over 650 dogs. They work tirelessly day and night to find and rescue these dogs and in some cases cats. But they don’t only work for the money the dog brings in. They work for the happiness that these animals bring to people and also the happiness the people bring to the animals.
2. SPCALA
Since 1877 the SPCALA has been helping retrieve all kinds of animals living on the streets. They try to take in all the animals they can find and hardly have time for rest. But this in case adoption tends to be more urgent. Since the SPCALA is a shelter, if an animal is not adopted within a certain time period that animal will have to be put down. But every day adoptions are held in an attempt to find a great family for a life long companion.
3. Gone to the Dogs Rescue
Gone to the Dogs Rescue is an organization that goes throughout Southern California to find good homes for their dogs. Their main goal is to rescue dogs that are very close to being put down and searching for the best home for that particular animal. Their “no kill” policy ensures that any dog they have will not be put down. But aside to traveling around Southern California they also ship these dogs to over state borders, so that animal can find the perfect home.
