If you are a big fan of YouTubers and have always want to meet them this is how: Conventions. The biggest YouTube conventions in the United States are VidCon which is in Anaheim, California and Playlist Live which is in Orlando, Florida. These events are very similar, but VidCon is slightly more popular.
About twenty-thousand people will attend VidCon this July, me included. I also went last year. To say the least it is an exciting, tiring, and unique experience. If you are not completely in love with the idea of meeting these role models, this is definitely not the place for you. It is full of crazy people constantly screaming, running, complaining, and shoving. But if you can be just as aggressive and dedicate a whole weekend to waiting in lines from 4:00 in the morning until 8:00 at night just to meet a few people, then it will be the best three days of your life.
This event is not easy to go to though. Super early-bird tickets went on sale on the seventeenth of November for $100. Even though that seems like a lot of money, it is a three day long convention so it would be the same as buying three day passes for about $33 each. Tickets are now on sale for $125 and once those are sold out, the final price will be $150. You also have to stay at a hotel since it is during the whole weekend. A good tip is to get a bunch of friends that are also going to VidCon and share rooms. Last year I went with five of my friends and three moms and we were able to stay in two hotel rooms for two nights. Even though our rooms were very full it did not really matter since most of the time was being spent at the convention across the street. Also, make sure to bring food with you from home. This way you can pack your own lunch if you get stuck waiting in lines and even breakfast if you want to get an early start and do not want to waste your time at starbucks. Plus, food there is expensive so you can spend your cash on more important things such as merchandise.
There are many activities that you can do at VidCon but, it is highly suggested that you plan out your trip before you go. You can attend signings, meet-ups, Q&A’s, panels, and much more. Waiting in lines can take up to seven hours though, so you have to budget your time and figure out what is really worth waiting for. There is also a chance you will see viners and less popular youtubers outside walking around with everyone. If you plan your weekend out and use all these tips you should have a great trip and be able to meet lots of people.
