Staying home during a vacation doesn’t have to be boring. Ever get tired of hanging out at the beach or going to Venice, Urth Caffe, and Santa Monica? Try something different and visit the LA Zoo and make the most out of your ‘staycation’.
Living in Los Angeles and being about a 45 minute drive makes the Zoo an easy activity to plan with short notice and it only costs $18 for adults 13 and up. The zoo is for all ages and a great family bonding activity. There is such a wide variety of animals and wildlife there to see including Giraffes, Elephants, Rhinos, Tigers, Monkeys, Bears, different types of birds and reptiles, deer, and much more.
My favorite part about the Zoo was the ‘ease in’ which we were able to maneuver through the entire park in only 2 hours. We were able to enjoy everything there was to see without getting lost or feeling exhausted by the end of the trip. We left at around 9 or 10 in the morning, making this a nice half-day activity.

The park is open from 10am-5pm Monday-Sunday and parking is FREE, but the animals start to be put away for the night at around 4 so its best to get there on the early side so you don’t miss anything! The park also has an awesome deal where you can buy tickets for both the LA Zoo and The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach for just $36.
