A festival for “internet kids” only took place from June 26 through June 28. VidCon was created by John and Hank Green (a.k.a. the “vlogbrothers” on youtube) in 2009. This video convention is three days long, and occurs annually during the summer. At Vidcon you can do many things such as meeting your favorite youtubers. There are meet & greets where you can have a small conversation and either get something signed or take a picture.
Every year VidCon becomes more and more popular, making lines very long. Over 1,400 people attended this year, creating some lines to last over 8 hours long and people camping out at 2 am for a meet & greet that starts at 10am.
Not only youtubers come to VidCon though. Viners and people invited to do panels for different topics also show up. Panels are rooms where 3-10 people will discuss a subject to an audience, such as the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) panel where some youtubers gave advice and answered questions.
Another event you could go to were Q&A’s (question and answers). These were similar to panels but, here youtubers talked more about themselves and different projects they were working on. During the last half, the audience had the choice to go up to a microphone and ask personal questions.
