The swim team meets during zero period this pre-season in order to use the pool. Last year, they practiced during sixth period, but the pool was never available because water polo was in season. Getting more yardage in and starting early gives those who practice together during zero an advantage during tryouts. Now that they have pre-season training in the pool, they are more prepared when season comes around. Those who swim club don’t practice with the Costa team until club is over and the zero period class is switched to a sixth in season. Students can take a sixth period one-semester class, and then swap zero for sixth once season starts. Alternatively, they can simply get out of school after fifth period until swim practices in season. To learn to enjoy swimming at such an early time, check out this article.
