When glancing at the modern exterior of Café Bonaparte it seems like a place for a fancy dinner or a night out.
- However this restaurant is the exact opposite, a French cuisine for almost any meal of the day. The restaurant has a casual feel to it with an over the counter ordering system. This system seems very effective for this type of restaurant because the food comes quicker and all of the food is displayed through glass windows holding everything from sweets to warm rolls of bread.
- Not only did this restaurant have a casual feel, but also the atmosphere was very welcoming. With brick flooring and the aroma of bread twirling through the air it almost feels as if you were in France. After walking through, you will reach the back where the counter is located. The service is average, but the food is the exact opposite. I ordered the special, which was a grilled Panini with a Portobello mushroom , grilled peppers, and an Aragua salad.
The Panini was a perfect mixture of a tangy and sweet. The Portobello mushroom was extremely fresh which made the mushroom melt as it slide down the back of your throat. What also made the Panini so delicious was the mixture between crunchy and soft. The freshly baked bread was crunchy on the outside yet soft on the inside. These mixtures of opposite flavors throughout the food made the Panini seem unique and gave it a distinct flavor that would make you only want more. Although the Panini was great the salad did not impress me. I felt that the dressing was overly flavorful that it burned the sides of my mouth. After eating this distinct dish I decided to try something that was a little more authentic, which was the Napoleon. A Napoleon is a French desert which is a pastry filled with whipped cream. The Napoleon had several layers and baked with a chocolate sauce. This decadent desert crumbles with every bite.
- As you take a bite into the pastry the crunchy flakes soon turned into smooth flakes of sugar. When I examined to menu to find anything else to my liking it stood out to me that the menu did not have many distinct French dishes. I realized that it catered to more of an American audience. So this food is more American food with a twist of French. This twist makes this restaurant perfect for families who are searching for good food for themselves yet there is still some food for their kids. With a beautiful store located steps way from the beach and with a taste of France in the air this restaurant will transform an evening with a kids to a trip to France. For more information call
