Saturday morning breakfasts with my mom and my grandma are usually uneventful, random chatter about random topics at a random place. But this week was a bit different. We decided to try The Pan, a new restaurant near my grandma.
As I entered to put my name on the waiting list, the warming and cute atmosphere instantly comforted me. A downfall of the restaurant is its size. People line up prior to the 9 AM opening, so if you are even a little bit late you will be forced to wait due to the lack of tables. The employees also seem a little new to their jobs, which turned the supposed 30-minute wait into an hour.
The menu was traditional breakfast with a twist. Cinnamon roll or pineapple pancakes? Stuffed French toast? Loaded hashbrowns? It seriously all sounded so good. I ordered what they call the “Lumberjack”: eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes, along with your choice of pancakes. My choice was the cinnamon roll.
Each bite of the pancakes, I was transferred to cinnamon roll pancake heaven. Take your traditional pancake, put some warm cinnamony goodness inside, and you have the most unique yet extremely tasty pancake. Their other specialty pancakes include banana, pineapple, and blueberry, all of which are fantastic.
The selection doesn’t stop there. They have omelets, French toast, breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches. I have truly never been let down with anything I have ever ordered there. Even something as simple as eggs and potatoes has an inventive and great taste.
They could be a bit more efficient, but the staff is all very kind and works hard. Another great thing about this restaurant is the price: inexpensive and truly worth every penny.
